In memory of

Sanjay Kalia

Sanjay Kalia , a cherished son, brother and uncle, passed away at the age of 56, May 26, 2023 from complications due to heart failure. Born July 25th, 1966 in Amritsar, India to (late) Kewal Ram Kalia, and Urmila Devi Kalia, Sanjay was second oldest to a family of four children. Sanjay demonstrated strength, kindness and resilience throughout his life.

Sanjay brought joy, laughter and adventure into the lives of those around him from an early age. His smile and kind heart endeared him to all. Despite the hardships he faced due to his challenges with mental illness, his spirit remained indomitable, and he continued to touch the lives of others with his gentle and compassionate nature.

Sanjay had a love for animals, bargaining the family’s first pet cat Tiger into the home. When young, Sanjay was an avid reader, earning awards at schools for comprehension at levels way beyond his age. Sanjay spent some time engrossed with the learnings of the Hare Krishnas and studied the Bhagavad Gita being able to recite verses and mantras. These teachings and mantras remained part of his character and a source of peace throughout his life. Sanjay loved spending time with family, looking forward to holiday gatherings like Christmas and Halloween. His hobbies included a deep appreciation of music, especially the classic rock bands like AC DC, Led Zeppelin, Boston and the Eagles. Sanjay loved watching movies and became quite the movie buff and especially enjoyed comedy movies. Sanjay traveled through India with his mom, and brother multiple times where he was able to enjoy time with his late father and company of close family who continue to share fond memories of Sanjay.

While Sanjay’s journey was not without its challenges, he was fortunate to have a loving and supportive family by his side. His Mom, siblings, Paunch, Sharmila, Puma and Paul and their respective spouses Jackie, Dino, Arun and Seema, provided unwavering support, acting as pillars of love during his most difficult moments. Their love and dedication were testaments to the unbreakable bond that ties this family together.

Sanjay will forever be remembered for his genuine kindness and the impact he had on the lives of others. His absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him dearly, including his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. However, his memory will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us to cherish the beauty in every moment and to be compassionate toward those who face their own battles.

As we bid farewell to Sanjay, let us celebrate the life he lived and honor the strength he possessed. May Sanjay’s spirit find eternal peace and may his memory continue to bring comfort and solace to all those whose lives he touched.

Rest in peace, dear Sanjay. You will forever be loved and missed.
