Samuel Thomas Wright
RCNVR WWII

Sam Wright, born September 13, 1926 in Newmarket, ON, passed away after a full and wonderful life on February 26, 2022 in his 96th year. Fortunate enough to find true love twice in his life, Sam was predeceased by Marion (1959) and Rita (2013). Survived by his daughters Dorothy (Fred), Sharon (Brendan), Karen (Geoff), Margaret (Dave), and Anne, as well as nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and countless relatives and friends.

A veteran of WWII, Sam served in the North Atlantic with the Royal Canadian Navy. When the war ended he completed his machinist apprenticeship at John Inglis and Company in Toronto. He was a faithful Mason and during his 78 years in the Masonic Order, held many roles, including Master of King Hiram Lodge No. 566. He will be deeply missed by his brethren.

Sam was a loving husband, proud father, caring pop and great-pop, uncle, cousin, brother, and more, whose strength, kindness, and sense of humour will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. His passing is keenly felt.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital Veterans Centre for their loving care of Sam over the past four months.

A celebration of life and reception will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022 at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Rd, Toronto, ON.) from 1 – 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Leukemia Foundation of Canada.
