Samuel Nai Tak Li, of Markham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Mackenzie Hospital, at the age of 75.

Sam is survived by his devoted wife, Susanna; his daughter, Jessica; and son-in-law, David. He also leaves behind his cherished grandson, Michael David. His family includes his sister, Josephine; his brother, James; and his beloved nephews and niece: Calvin and Jody (children of James), and Eric and Sasso (children of Josephine). All of them will remember him with great fondness.

Born in Shanghai and raised in Hong Kong, Sam’s journey took him to Montreal, where he founded Wellton Express. Under his leadership, the company grew into a respected international partnership, earning Sam many lifelong friends. Despite his accomplishments, Sam remained grounded and modest, his character defined by kindness and generosity.

A man of few words, Sam preferred listening and observing to speaking. His quiet, gentle nature was matched by a strong work ethic and an unwavering commitment to his family. He found true fulfillment in helping others, always putting the needs of those he loved above his own.

Sam’s legacy of hard work, compassion and humility will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A memorial service to honour Sam’s life will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Elgin Mills Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life he led.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Blood Services Foundation in memory of Samuel Nai Tak Li. Contributions can be made online at http://give.blood.ca/goto/SamuelNaiTakLi . Your generosity will honour Sam’s legacy and support the life-saving blood transfusions that had such a profound impact on him.

Additionally, white envelopes are warmly welcomed and will be donated to Mackenzie Hospital. Thank you for your kindness and for helping to continue the compassionate acts that made a meaningful difference in Sam’s life.

A dinner reception will follow the funeral services for those who would like to join the family.

Susana, Jessica, you have my deepest sympathy for your loss.

Sam was an exceptional human being who i had the pleasure of first meeting back in1985, sharing a very small office at Mirabel airport.
Over the next 30 years we would work together side by side and become good friends and partners.

May he rest in peace and may God bless you and your family.
