In memory of

Salvatore (Enzo) Cretto

March 29, 1939 -  August 16, 2023

Salvatore (Enzo) Cretto was born in Noto, Sicily on March 29th, 1939 to Corrado and Corradina Cretto. Salvatore has four siblings, Ignazio (Malina), Paolo (Sandra), Giovanna (Franco), Luciano (Lucia). Salvatore passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on their 65th wedding anniversary and has been reunited with his parents, in-laws (Maria & Corrado Cosentino), his brother-in-law and sister-in-law (Corrado & Anna) and brother-in-law (Frank Mauceri).

Salvatore immigrated to Canada at the age of 18 by himself, until he married the love of his life, Paolina Cosentino. They were later married on August 16, 1958 at Monte Carmelo church in Toronto. They were happily married for 65 years to the day of his passing.

Salvatore and Paolina have four children Tony (Anna), Cora (Mario), Maria and Maurizio (Rachel). Salvatore’s pride and joy are his grandchildren Amanda (Tom), Jesse (Otilia), Samantha (Jeff), Madelyn (James), Vanessa, Paulina (Khadeem), Valentino and Julia. Salvatore also has 7 great grandchildren Hailey, Abigail, Penelope, Viana, Amalia, Jade, and Alaia. Salvatore also has many nieces and nephews here in Canada, and in Italy.

When Salvatore arrived in Toronto, Canada on June 3rd 1958, he worked hard as a mechanic, had his own gas station and continued to work hard for his family. Salvatore was a jack of all trades. He retired early only to start his second job as a school bus driver to his grandchildren. Nonno Enzo loved this job, and his grandchildren were his life. During his spare time, he coached boys soccer in Ajax and was very passionate about helping out in the community. Salvatore was very well known in the Ajax soccer community.

Salvatore introduced, educated and bragged consistently about his precious Lazio team. He represented Lazio with so much pride and love. He never missed a game. At the age of 74 Salvatore went all by himself to a tattoo parlor and made sure his favorite soccer team was marked on his body for life, for nonno has always been a true fan & never failed to represent where he comes from.

Salvatore was a natural when it came to making people laugh. He was so proud of his family.

Salvatore will be greatly missed and his legacy will live on forever through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
