On October 27th 1961 A beautiful baby girl was born to the proud parents of Alfred and Roslyn Knowles who was given the name Ruth Vernel affectionately known to every one as Vernie. Ruth was the first girl and second child born to this union.

Ruth started her education at Oakes field primary in 1966 and then went onto Jordan Prince William high school in 1972. She then moved onto finish high school at CC sweeting senior high school in 1975. In 1981 Ruth started work at Cat Cay Bahamas as a customer service agent.1984 Ruth Married Arnold Cargill where they remained married until the time of his death in 1989. She moved onto work in the Shoal restaurant as a cashier in 1988. Shortly after starting her job at the Shoal Restaurant Ruth moved onto Atlantis Paradise Island in 1989 as a Switch Board operator. In the Year of 2004 she became employed at the double dd’s restaurant as a cook. In 2017 Ruth Migrated to Canada with her two sons in search of a better life. There she volunteered her time and service to various food programs. She would extend her hand to many wherever she could assist.

In February 2023 Ruth was admitted to Scarborough General Hospital and underwent a series of tests only to be diagnosed with cancer. Ruth was later discharged only to be admitted again a short time later. After being admitted again her health and mobility took a downward spiral. Ruth expressed her love for God even through her declining health at the hospital. She was surrounded by love ones who wanted to see the strong Ruth that we always knew her to be. I extend my love, prayers and encouragement to our family as you partake in the difficult task of laying our dear Auntie Ruth to rest! There are no words that I can say to replace the sorrow and pain but I pray you find solace in knowing that she is in heavenly peace as Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that it is preferred to be absent from the body and present with the Lord!
