In memory of

Ruby Frances Clarke

September 29, 1932 -  March 1, 2018

The family of Ruby Francis Clarke of Brampton, Ontario wish to announce her passing after a lengthy illness. Ruby was born in Twillingate, Newfoundland on September 29th, 1932 as the last of six children to Jessie Pelley (White) and Frederick Pelley. She was predeceased by her brothers Chesley and Harold and sisters Lucy, Carrie and Edna. She was also predeceased by the love of her life, the late Frank Clarke, in September 1990.

The Clarke family moved from Twillingate to Toronto in 1964, settling in Downsview and eventually Brampton where Ruby worked as a shipper and receiver at Associated Advertising, at Fairlawn Jewellers and managed the gift shop at the Royal York Hotel. For 20 years, a very important part of her life was volunteering at Tullamore Care Community where she made many good friends and helped to improve the lives of its residents. She was also well known for her baking skills, particularly her world-class Nemo bars, ginger snaps and date squares, which were always greatly enjoyed by her family, friends and neighbours.

Carol Ann and Dale would like to thank Brenda and the rest of the staff at Southbrook Lodge for the compassionate care that they provided to Ruby over the past two years and the staff in the Palliative Care unit at Brampton Civic Hospital for the gentle treatment that they provided during the last few days of her life. We would also like to give a special thank you to Peggy and Wilson and Buddy and Patsy.

If you wish to make a donation in Ruby’s memory, we would ask that you donate to the Toronto Humane Society, Canadian Mental Health Association or a charity of your choice.

Dear Aunt Ruby
I got the news of your passing today . My heart is broken . I am remembering all the time we spent together when I was a young child . You and uncle frank would pick me up at Sunday school in Twillingate and we would go for ice-cream and other places for a ride. When I was 11 years old I travelled form Twillingate to Downsview with you .We made a detour and went to Prince Edward Island . The things I saw and did I will never forget .Our weekends at the lake , Santa's village . I will always rember our telephone calls .Your laugh I will hold dear. I am so sad you are gone but I am at peace that your are not alone anymore . I will always love you . You and Uncle Frank are together again.
