It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother Ruby Clare Ferguson affectionately called “Diddy” on Thursday March 9, 2023 in her 92nd year after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Ruby was born on July 15, 1930 to Jane and Reuben Bernard in Montego Bay, Jamaica. A devoted Christian, she was always surrounded by children in her community, where they found a loving, warm and safe space to call home away from home. Ruby is survived by her sister Carmen, children Yvonne (Norman), Jullette, Dundeen, Maynard and Miles. Grandchildren Tania, Nicole, Chanakay (Adrian), Sobhuza, Tasheba, Malika (Oliver), Samora, Vanessa, Robert, Matthew, Amanda, Alisha, Janay, and many loving nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Etta, son Michael and grandson Dwayne. Ruby, our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will be deeply missed by us all. A special thanks to the amazing staff and caregivers of Harmony Hills for their dedication and loving care over many years. In 2006 Alzheimer’s Jamaica was formed in honor of Ruby, who was first diagnosed with the disease in 1999.
