ROYSTON (Roy) DAVID FARDELL

It was with great sadness that we previously announced the passing of Roy at Sunnybrook Health Science’s Palliative Care unit at the age of 97. Roy had been battling an incurable genetic heart ailment over the last couple of years of his life but passed peacefully.

Born in Kingston, Ontario, upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served during the Second World War. With the end of the war, he enrolled at Queen’s University obtaining a B.Sc.– Civil Engineering while excelling athletically on the varsity football team. He later worked for many years in various management roles with Imperial Oil Ltd. Roy was always his happiest on the golf course or curling rink at his beloved Donalda Club. Even more so at the cottage he built and fussed over, over many years at Dinner Time Rapids, Severn Falls.

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years Beverley (nee Stringer), his parents Bertie and Marjorie, sister Betty and daughter Royanne. Survived by his sister Mary Simonett, 5 children David (Jane), Patterson (Arnold), Bill (Catherine), Jill and Jeffrey. His 10 grand children include Christopher, Geoffrey (Katie), Ryan, Linden (Jeffery), Ashley (Paul), Rachelle, Erin, Laura, Brandon, Amy, Cody, and Parker as well as 4 great grand children Easton, Romy, Sophia and the latest addition Adelaide.

A memorial service, internment and reception for family and close friends is scheduled at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre on April 30, 2022.

Big Roy,Brother, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa you will be missed.
