In memory of
Rose Needham
January 31, 1928 -
May 12, 2022
With deep sadness, we mourn the passing of Rose Needham, a devoted wife, mother, nana, and great nana. Rose passed away on May 12th, 2022 at the age of 94. Rose came to Canada from England in 1957 with her late husband, Ronald, and had two children. She worked for many years in the Athletics & Recreation Department at the University of Toronto (Scarborough College) until she retired in 1993, where she was well-known and admired for her work ethic, positive attitude, and friendly demeanor.
Rose's love for her family will be everlasting. Caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was the most important thing to her. She always made sure that her family was taken care of and knew that she loved them. Rose is survived by her son David and his wife Wendy, her daughter Diane and her husband John, her grandchildren Christine, Michael and his partner Ashley, Brian and his partner Taylor, Kayleigh, Sara, and Tasha, and her great grandchildren Chloé and Alexis.
Rose was an independent woman who was determined to do things for herself, and she impressed everyone with her ability to cut her own grass and shovel the snow well into her nineties. She could often be found walking up Morningside Avenue with her bundle-buggy to go to the grocery store until she eventually opted to take the TTC instead. Her reading ability was second-to-none, and she could be found at the library every two weeks returning her old books and signing out new ones.
Rose was, is, and will be universally adored, loved, cherished, and respected for her kindness, selflessness, compassion, and generosity by those who knew her. Her memory will live long in the hearts of those she loved, sealed with a loving kiss.
