In memory of

Rose Fujino

February 13, 1938 -  February 15, 2023

After spending her 85th birthday surrounded by those who loved her the most, Rose, Ritsuko, passed peacefully at Oak Ridges Hospice, Port Perry on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

Lifetime partner and wife to Takumi; cherished mother of Sandra (Ray), Glen (Helen), and Lisa (Steven); adored Bachan of Sarah (Rosie), Jonathon, Madelyn, Emma, Evan and Aaron. She was the proudest, biggest supporter of her grandchildren and all their endeavors and dreams.

Born in Whonnock, British Columbia, Mom spent her toddler years interned in Slocan, returning with her family to Kumamoto, Japan after WWII. Stories of chasing down toads, fishing, and playing tricks on her siblings remind us where that twinkle in her eye came from. Regaining her birthright in 1957, Mom returned to Canada as a citizen to live her life full of zest and adventure.

Mom’s appreciation for the gift of life and sacred beauty for today will be missed by all who met her. She will be most remembered for her unconditional love and dedication to her family, all animals…and Las Vegas. Mom’s passing can only be described as “shikataganai.”

As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her incredible life has been celebrated during a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital – Scarborough Health Network or any animal rescue of your choice.

Dear Sandra and family, Upon reading these wonderful words about your mother, it is easy to understand how the "twinkle" and zest for life have been passed on to the next generations. What a gift to have a mother and grandmother like that. And she was blessed to have such a supportive and loving family to care for her and your father so well. , Sincerely, Mary Jang
