In memory of
Ronald Rydzy
January 17, 1939 -
October 31, 2024
Ronald Rydzy, age 85, passed away suddenly on October 31, 2024 at home in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. He was born on January 17, 1939 in Poręba, Poland to Julian and Helena Rydzy.
Ronald is survived by his beloved wife Jadwiga; children Magdalena (Scott) and Michal (Ania) of Toronto; cherished grandchildren Pola, Lilah, and Stella; sister Lidia Rydzy.
Ronald had an admirable list of skills and achievements in his life including teaching, being a school principal, welding, car mechanics, electrical, plumbing, and advanced carpentry – he created bespoke custom large doors for some of the most preeminent people of San Antonio, and his custom furniture and cabinetry graces the homes of family and loved ones.
He loved the freedom of driving, exploring much of North America – often with Johnny Cash as the soundtrack. Over the years he did many long drives back and forth between San Antonio and Toronto, and between the East and West coast. He loved and was a student of nature, devotedly feeding squirrels and birds, and frequently sharing photos and videos. He also loved drawing and had a talent for playing various musical instruments.
He’ll be remembered for how he lit up around his granddaughters, for his beautiful woodwork, for his amazing cooking, for his fortitude in navigating major changes with strength and focus. He was known to encourage others by saying ‘don’t give up’.
The road is all yours now, Ronald. It’s wide open. Happy travels. You are forever in our hearts. Thank you for everything.
A memorial service will be held at St. Clement’s Parish (409 Markland Drive, Etobicoke) on Tuesday November 12 at 10am.
