In memory of

Ronald David Rayner

February 2, 1932 -  January 15, 2023

The family of Ronald Rayner of Toronto is saddened to announce his passing on January 15th, 2023. Ron, in his 90th year, passed peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital Sunday afternoon.

Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Hazel; children Kathy, Pam (Walter), and Chris (Paula). He was a wonderful and generous "Gramps" to Kim (Dave), Darryl, Daniel (Kirsten), Laura (Cory), Emily (Aleks), and Shannon (Lex) and a loving and gentle great-grandpa to Kelly, Miles, Elliott, Owen, and Alice.

Predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Alice, sisters, June and Norma, Ron leaves behind his twin brother, Don, and his younger brother, Bruce.

Ron began working in the Insurance Salvage business in 1952 at the age of 20 and proudly continued his work to the end of his life. His work ethic, steadfast honesty, and expertise were well known by insurance adjusters and examiners coast to coast across Canada.

Ronnie was truly a kind and generous man and we will miss him tremendously. We hope you will remember him for his zany sense of humour, his passion for gardening, his joy of raising plants from seed, and sharing recipes. Please raise a glass in Ronnie's honour.

With Ron's wishes in mind, a commemorative tree is being planted in his honour in lieu of funeral services. This tree will stand and grow as a physical reminder of his legacy as a nurturing gardener. Each branch is a memory. Each blossom letting you know, he's still here with us.

It was Ronnie's wish that any memorial contributions be made to the M.S. Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.

I remember Ron from early childhood. He and Hazel were very good friends of my parents. His daughter Kathy, to this day, is my girlfriend, of now 65 years. He was always funny and sarcastic. I love the photo shown here. It truly represents the man I remember. Cheers Ron to your new adventure.
