It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ron (Ronald) A. Smith, suddenly on Saturday December 9, 2023 at Centenary Hospital in Scarborough.
At 87 years young, he was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Joan (nee Slack) of 43 years, and loving daughter Karen (2001). His family, daughter Elaine (Tim) and son Kevin, grandchildren Courtney, Shaine, Kaitlyn, and Jordan, will try to navigate life on earth without him. Not to mention the many, many friends he considered family!

A huge thank you to all the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital and Centenary Hospital that tried their best to mend a broken heart. Although his next chapter was cut short, thank you to the staff and residents at The Village of Taunton Mills for welcoming him with kindness and grace.

Visitation for Ron “Smitty Sr” “Smash” will be held on Friday December 15, at Pine Hills Funeral Centre (625 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough) from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A private internment will take place Saturday. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2024.

As a dedicated supporter and philanthropist of the West Park Multiple Sclerosis Wing, we know Ron would be forever grateful for donations to West Park Healthcare Centre Foundation, in lieu of flowers.
