In memory of

Robin William Virtue

June 30, 1948 -  April 23, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robin William Virtue, 76 of Whitby, Ontario on April 23, 2025, at the Palliative Care Centre at Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital. Robin was a loving spouse to Valerie Gardner and cared deeply for her children Dave (Laura) Gardner and Kathryn (Ignacia) Gardner and was a cherished Grampa Rob to Maggie Gardner. Son of the late Glenn and Joan (Martin) Virtue and brother to the late Patricia Cole, he leaves behind his brother-in-law Randy Cole, nephew Mark (Elaine) Cole, great nephews Matthew and Ryan Cole, niece Alison Cole (Eddie Heckbert) and great nephew Jack Heckbert. Robin's career in finance and technology included employment at Honeywell Canada Inc., Unisys Canada Inc. and NCR Canada Inc. His passion was automobile racing and outside of the office he was always involved in racing as a driver, enthusiastic spectator and as an instructor in the Porsche Advanced Driving School. Robin volunteered for many years with the Upper Canada Region of the Porsche Club of America, both locally and by travelling annually to support the Watkins Glen New York Club Race. In retirement he operated his Pace Motorsport business and was a partner in Pacemotorsports Inc. More recently Robin was a proud board member of the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame. A celebration of life will be held at a time and location to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations please enjoy the company of friends and family, tell them you love them, and raise a glass to the memory of an always cheerful, humble and kind Robin who will be greatly missed.

Robin was a very special person who shared his vast wealth of knowledge about our shared interests - Porsches, Formula 1 and our families. I will miss our coffee meetings and discussions. Robin will be also be remembered by my wife Mei and daughter Amanda. Robin taught Amanda how to drive a manual transmission car and showed her what a Porsche could do. Robin will be remembered as a wonderful, kind friend and we cherish our memories of him.

We are so saddened by Rob's passing. Our families spent many wonderful times getting together for family lunches, dinners and celebrations over the years. Rob was such a super nice, always helpful and friendly guy. He will be missed at those occasions but will always be remembered at them. We will also miss his sense of humour. Wishing him a peaceful rest.
