In memory of

Robert William Collie

October 24, 1931 -  February 28, 2017

COLLIE, Robert William (Bob)

October 24, 1931 – February 28, 2017

Peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, February 28th, 2017. Beloved husband of Pat (McQuillan) for over 64 years of good times, laughter and love. Loving Father of Wendy and Don, Rob, and John. Proud and most cherished Grandfather of Ryan, Erin, Ceilidh, Lindsay and Andrew. Predeceased by his parents and three sisters (Peggy, Jean, and Rhoda).

Bob began his career at Heather and Little Sheet Metal and Roofing Ltd. at the age of 16 and remained there for over 50 years, until his retirement. It was at Heather and Little that he proved himself as an expert craftsman. He was a proud and dedicated trade unionist and a lifelong member of Local 30. Bob was also a lifelong member of the New Democratic Party, played a key role in many Provincial election battles over the years and was steadfast in the beliefs of the Party.

Bob’s favourite memories were spending time with his grandchildren at the cottage on Haliburton Lake. His monster smile and great sense of humour will be missed by all. Bob will be “Roamin’ in the Gloamin’” for all eternity. Special thanks to the staff at Bendale Acres LTC facility for their great care and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E.) on Saturday, March 18 at 12 p.m. Visitation at 11 a.m. prior to celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimers Society and Parkinsons Association will be greatly appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.etouch.ca

Terry worked with Bob in Reid Scott's 1965 re-election and remembers him as a tireless and dedicated constituency leader and party loyalist, very likeable and with a great sense of humour - the number one draft choice if you were building a winning campaign team. A truly wonderful guy who served the party and the union movement with unwavering conviction. He will be fondly and greatly missed.
