In memory of

Robert Hart Barrie

May 2, 1936 -  February 4, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert Hart Barrie on Tuesday February 4th, 2020.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Connie, his children Leslee (Bill) and Cam (Dora), and sisters Dorothy and Margaret. Bobby was the proud grandfather of Lindsay, Zachary, Tristan, Victoria, Joshua and Aaron. Predeceased by his father Robert, mother Mary, brother Bill, sister Isabell and brother in law Cliff. Robert will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many good friends.

He was born in Renfrew, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1950. Bob spent his early days as a proud member of the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) and the Irish regiment. His career spanned from early days of repairing oil burners to eventually returning to school at George Brown College to obtain his Gas fitter and HVAC certificates. He enjoyed being self-employed, running his own business.

Bob had a passion for golf, soccer, fishing and hunting. He was a longtime member for the (ANAF) Army Navy Air Force, where he enjoyed a drink or two and a great game of darts or bridge. He always loved having BBQ’s, parties and dances, but also enjoyed a good book or crossword puzzle.

In his retirement years, he took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren and bragging about them to anyone who would listen. He was loved by all and will be forever remembered for his caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is at peace watching over us.

A celebration of Robert’s life will take place at The Simple Alternative, 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga, on Thursday February 13th, 2020 at 2:00PM; with a visitation 1 hour prior 1:00PM-2:00pm and reception to follow.

My condolences to my extended family! We will be thinking of you during this very difficult time. I hold onto my very early fond memories of Uncle Bob coming over to my parent's house and bringing us smarties, therefore dubbing him as "the smartie guy." As a 6 year old, that made him pretty awesome in my eyes! As I got older, I got to enjoy his sense of humour and his infectious personality. Thank you for the memories Uncle Bob ❤

My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
I remember how Bob used to wait for you in front of Hydro, years ago.
You two were so devoted to each other - it is a tremendous loss.

Take care of yourself.

The years pass by so quickly but the memories last forever and my memories of the Barrie Clan stretch back nearly 60 years. The many parties and wonderful times shared at Bob & Connies home were truly family events covering every possible theme and it was truly an honour to be included as part of the extended family circle. Bob had a great sense of humour and could keep you on the edge of your seat telling you stories with his lovely Scottish accent which he never lost. By the end of the story you were doubled in two laughing or wiping away the tears. He will be missed but not forgotten. I’m thinking if we could see through the clouds to heaven above there’s already a party going on with Bob, his parents and Isabell, Bill and Cliff. My sincere sympathy to Connie, Leslee, Cam, Dorothy, Margaret and the Grandchildren along with the extended family members. Thank you Bob for the legacy of memories you have left for everyone to share. Lovingly, Brenda
