In memory of

Robert Dempster

May 11, 1922 -  March 20, 2021

Born in Greenock, Scotland. Son of Isabella & Robert Dempster. Married to Priscille Masse of Quebec, Canada. Father of Linda, Rita, Robert (deceased), & Vivian. Grandfather to Celine, Mathieu, Sean, Skye & Tara. Great-grandfather to Anthony, Kristen, Marcus & Sydney. His siblings Sadie, Ella, Margaret, Jemima, James and Rubina are deceased.

A decorated* WWII Merchant Seaman, Robert Dempster committed to truth and righteousness at a very young age when he volunteered for service at 17 years old, rather than wait to be conscripted. He carried those values into every day living after the war, as a principled and dedicated family man. At the death of his beloved wife, Priscilla in 2011, he renewed his faith. Throughout his profound grief and longing, he found solace in the belief that they would reunite in the afterlife, and this has been so reflected at their shared grave site and marker – intertwined hearts with the inscription “Forever Together”.

*Burma Star, Atlantic and Pacific Stars, St. George’s Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal.

Due to the pandemic, no memorial service will be held at this time. Donations to the Veteran’s Comfort Fund at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in his memory, are welcome.
