Robert Bruce Paterson December 30, 1946 – May 30, 2021
Our beloved Bruce died peacefully with family by his side on Sunday morning at the age of 74. We are devastated that he is no longer with us but grateful that he had a peaceful beginning to his new journey. Bruce is predeceased by his parents Gord and Mary Paterson.
Loving husband to Brenda. Father to Jennifer, Erin (husband Mark), and Taylor (wife Irene). Grandfather to Kaiden, Aidan and Olivia. Brother to Billy and Joan. Friend to many. Will also be missed by cats Jules and Buddy.
Bruce was a gifted man with a passion for music, book collecting, photography, building computers, and barbecuing perfect chicken. He retired from Ellis Packaging at the age of 63 as the Chief Financial Officer and enjoyed time with family, reading, and scotch. He had a hearty laugh, a playful sense of humor, a big heart, and a gentle presence.
Bruce was a very generous and kind man and who loved to help other people. Since he lived with Parkinson’s, please consider donating to Parkinson’s Canada in his memory: Parkinson's Canada
The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.

Bruce has been such a wonderful father-in-law, and an amazing dad and grampa to Erin and Kaiden. We have many happy memories of times spent together in both Canada and England.

On one visit to the Cotswolds, the local artist who we had rented a cottage from, showed us around his art gallery / shop, which was mostly full of landscapes and nature paintings from various local artists. I think the artist was a little disappointed, that after looking at and complimenting his own paintings, Bruce decided to buy a photograph of a door (just a door) by another artist. I thought this was brilliant!

We always had great conversations about art and photography, among many other things, and he was always so interesting to talk to.

Kaiden has always been crazy about his Grampa, and would get so excited about going to visit him and Brenda. Bruce had an incredible calming effect on him like no one else could. He will miss him so much.

I will greatly miss his good nature, humour and calming presence, as I'm sure everyone who knew him will. Rest in peace Bruce.

We have such a lot of memories. He was always keen on all things British and loved antiques - best if they had a good story attached to them. I remember calling round to see Brenda to discuss setting up Trelawney. He offered me a glass of wine and when he found out the purpose of the visit. sat down and listened to the proposal. I never got the glass of wine.

My friendship with Bruce spanned over 45 years and he truely was my "Best Friend". My condolences to Brenda and his children for their loss of such a wonderful person, I will miss him greatly.

Bruce brought joy to all around him as he lived his life and was a person that you wanted to know and spend time with. Our journeys together on various vacations, including his favourite place, the United Kingdom, will be in my memories forever. He was a special person to me and I will always have wonderful thoughts of our times together, may he rest in peace along with his parents.
