Bob Smith, 78, passed away at Fenelon Court Long Term Care in Fenelon Falls, ON where he received exceptional care for over 3 years for dementia. He was always smiling, kind and adored by staff and residents alike.
He was born in Toronto to Kay (Kathleen Davies) and Jack (Roy John) Smith on his father’s birthday, February 2nd, 1946. He was born second and raised with his three brothers, John, Rick and Bill in East York and attended Danforth Tech. Bob then went to work for Ortho Pharmaceuticals and remained a loyal employee for 43 years until his retirement in 2009.
After his father’s passing, Bob met Lois (Goulding) while they both lived on Dingwall Ave., and married in March 1966. Bob and Lois had two daughters, Darlene Paula, and Diane Lois. They raised their family in the Don Mills area before moving out to Pickering in 2007.
Bob greatly enjoyed working on cars, playing pool and sports. He was on the Ortho baseball team for many years and played shinny hockey with those same friends until he broke his collarbone ending his hockey career. He was a fan of the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs and watched almost every game.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lois, his daughters, Darlene (Tim) and Diane (Angelo). He will be greatly missed by all including his grandchildren, RJ, Kelli, Lindsey and TJ, as well as Daniel and Brian. He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Emily, Brighton, Charleigh, Bayleigh, Jack and Kenzi.
A cremation followed by a private family gathering will soon take place. Bob’s remains will be taken to his second home in Norris Arm, Newfoundland, his favourite place in the world to visit and fish every year.
The family would like to extend our gratitude once again to the staff at Fenelon Court for their professional, compassionate and kind hospitality.
