In memory of

Rita Peers Lawrence

January 22, 1922 -  March 17, 2021

LAWRENCE, Rita Peers (neé Maxted) passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Harold & Grace Baker Centre in Toronto. She was in her 99th year.

Born in Oakdale, Wales she was the loving daughter of Cecil Alexander Maxted and Emmie Peers (Johnson), sister to Grace, Phyllis and Bett (all predeceased).

She met the love of her life John (Jack) in Gravesend, Kent England during WW2 and they were inseparable until his passing in 2004. They travelled to Canada to make a better life for their two children, John and Josephine, and for that they are truly grateful.

Loving mother of son John (Marilyn) and their children John (jenny), Michael and Geoffrey; daughter Josephine (Bill) De Lucia and their children Rebecca (Raul) Roque, Jennifer (Daniel) Stolfi, Emily (Matt) Wood and Billy (Laura) De Lucia. She was a proud great-nanny to Duston, Jack, Gregory, Alexander, Olivia, Colton, Isabella, Etta Rose and Penelope.

Rita joined the staff of the Registrar’s Office at Queen’s University where she worked for over twenty-five years. Upon retirement she and Jack spent winters in Florida and Portugal where they made many wonderful friends and where the children and grandchildren loved visiting.

Rita will be remembered for her quiet demeanor, loving nature and endless patience. We will miss you terribly mum, but we know that you have joined the love of your life and now both of you are watching over us. We love you to the moon and back.

May she rest in peace and rise rise in glory!

Happy memories of the times Rita and Jack come back to the UK and the family gatherings in our garden.
Mum and Rita were close growing up and they actually looked so much alike!
A life well spent.
With love

My beloved Nan. You are desperately missed everyday. We were so lucky to have you for so long. It still doesn't feel real that you aren't with us. We all carry you with us. Missing you and loving you always. xo Jenny, Dan, Etta and Pacino xoxoxox
