Rest in Peace Aunty Evelyn! We will all miss you!
Dear family and friends, as we gather to say our final farewells to our beloved aunt Evelyn I stand before you with a heavy heart knowing that words alone cannot do justice to the profound love and admiration we all share for her, it is my great honor to have been entrusted with the task of delivering this eulogy, and in doing so, I aim to celebrate her life and share some treasured memories along lifes path way, I thank you Bevan Thomas
EVELYN had the most captivating smile and my departed brother Mohammed (Popsy) was no doubt won over by her charm and wit. During my recent visit to Toronto (2022) Evelyn and I chewed the cud and exchanged gossip of our time in the old country which brought back many memories of my own childhood.
To my 5 nieces and the stalwarth Terry, your mother has led a long and full life and has now taken her place in the great procession of human kind and completed the natural process of life and death. She has gone to join her dear Popsy.
Your sad loss cannot take away the memory and joy of the times you have all shared with your mother because it is our relationships and friendships that some essence of us remains and the memory of your late mother will endure forever.
During this holy month of Ramadan, I ask the almighty to shower his blessings on dear Evelyn and the rest of the family.
Sending my deepest heartfelt condolences to the entire Ali family on behalf of the Rai Family. We will forever cherish the wonderful memories we made with Grandma, especially the time she spent with us in Florida. Her wit, charm, and infectious laughter brought so much joy to us all.
I will always remember the first time I met her, 13 years ago, I asked Grandma if she was Madras, and with a smile, she replied, ‘Yes, I’m Madras, and he over there (pointing to her Grandson) is mad rass.’ I could not stop giggling. This was the sense of humor she had; so quick-witted and full of life, always making everyone laugh.
Beyond her humor, Grandma was incredibly supportive and truly treated me as her own family, just as she did with so many others. She had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcomed.
I will miss her beautiful stories about her life in Guyana and all the incredible journeys she experienced. Her conversations were insightful, adventurous, and informative. She truly lived a life full of love, joy, and laughter. She will be missed dearly.
In loving memory of our dearest friend.
