I felt so sad that one of my best friend(almost 50 years) had left me so sudden. It hurts me even more that I was not there to pay my last respect to him as I was away travelling. However it made me felt a bit better as I was almost the last person seen him before he left this world. I was able to visit him with another of his buddy Henry hours before he past away. He looked quite peaceful at the time and I was glad that he finally suffered no more from this terminal illness.
I can still recall when I first met Richard during our new student orientation party back in September 1970. He appeared to me that he was a playboy of some kind. The whole evening he was mingled among all the girls due to his good looking and he drank so much that he was totally past out by the time the party was over. I didn't seen him again but some how our path cross each other during the same school term and slowly we began good friends. We were living together with another of our buddy Henry back in 1973 and that was the year we really get to know each other and our relationship never stop growing after that. He was my best man and Terry my wife's groom maid during my wedding in 1980. We were so close at the time we almost seen each other every weekend. We had so many happy moments with each others throughout the early of our life time. Even though sometime I hated him so much because of his bad temper, I came to accept him because he is my buddy and no one is perfect. Other than that he is a good friend to be. You can ask for his help anytime and he will be there to offer a hand, never stand you up. He is also my eldest daughter Natalie's Godfather when she was born in 1987. Although the past few years we didn't get together that much often but in my mind he always is my big brother that I can depend on whenever I needed help and someone to talk to. Now he was gone, I hope he can rest in peace and my deepest condolences to Terry.
His best friend forever Ralph! May 2019.
Rest in peace
Will see at the 19th hole at Heaven Country Club.
