In memory of

Richard 胡宏信先生 Hu

September 13, 2019

With great sorrow, the family of Richard Hung Hsin Hu announce his peaceful passing on September 13, 2019. Richard had suffered a heart attack on August 27 during a weekly bridge game and was amongst friends who valiantly tried to save him.

Richard graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at National Taiwan University and later attained his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan. He went on to complete his Doctor of Philosophy courses in Mechanical Engineering at Carleton University while working full-time with a young family of three children.

He was one of the top nuclear fuel safety specialists in Canada. Richard worked at Canadian General Electric in Peterborough for many years and then joined Hydro-Québec in Montreal when he was 42 years old. Through sheer determination and hard work, he learned to speak French fluently and to write all his research papers in French. He retired from Hydro-Québec at the age of 65. Post retirement, he worked as a consultant for Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and Ontario Hydro.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Monica and children Helena, Marianne and Franklin, as well as his sons-in-law Robert and Alex, daughter-in-law Susanna and five grandchildren Tristan, Aidan, Alexandra, Aaralyn and Brandon.

Monica and family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to all family and friends who sent their condolences and kind wishes. Your warm friendship and concerns have been sincerely comforting and touching.

Richard, Dad - We love you and will always remember the lessons you taught us.
