Rhodi Iliadou von Bezold
July 13, 1934-January 31, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch Rhodi Iliadou von Bezold, on Friday January 31, in Toronto.
Dearly loved mother to Adeline (Dimitri), Kathryn Cleo (Rhonda), cherished grandmother to Despoina, Rhodi (Nick) and Konstantinos (Nikoleta).
A proud great-grandmother to Nephele, Dimitri and Chione.
Pre-deceased by her Greek Pontian parents Giorgos and Kleoniki, her brother Pavlos and her devoted husband Johannes Gottfried.
Rhodi was an active member in the Greek-Canadian Community, serving as President of the Katerini Society of Toronto, as well as planning and hosting many community events for the Greek Pan-Macedonian society over the years. She was also a dedicated member of the congregation at the Greek Gospel Church of Toronto, which she loved dearly.
Rhodi’s passion in jewellery led her to work as a jeweler with S.R. Perrin, and Gosland for more than 25 years. Following her retirement, gardening and community-building kept her busy. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, loved the sea, the sun and meeting new people.
Rhodi’s energy was boundless. From dancing at every function to fearlessly bracing the elements to go for a walk or shopping, nothing would stop her.
She will be deeply missed by her sisters Olga and Aliki, niece Christine, good friends Irena, Rona, Kirti and Patricia, Despoina K, Voula A, as well as her extended German family including Irmi, Julianna and Hartmut.
Our family would like to thank the Fieldstone staff for their support, and especially express our gratitude towards the nurses and PSWs on Dove Lane, who are pillars in the long term care community.
Our deepest thanks to Hannah, Hilary, Marcia, Fortune, Wendy and Marissa, and everyone who helped make Rhodi’s last few years of life more joyful and comfortable.
Rhodi, who stayed strong until the end of her life, will always remain in our hearts as a fearless and passionate, loving woman. We will remember her strength and continue to draw inspiration from her example.
In lieu of flowers, our family asks that you offer your support to other families who are affected by dementia and if you are able to, please volunteer your time to those in need of company.
Donations in Rhodi’s name can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto at alz.to
Rhodi, may your energy and warmth always bring a smile to our faces.

"The Broken Chain"

We little knew that morning
That God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You’re always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again. ❤️💫
