In memory of

Renee Gertrude Swaby

November 15, 1941 -  June 2, 2021

The Swaby & Alexander families are saddened to announce the loss of Renee, who passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2021, at Brampton Civic Hospital in her 79th year. Wife to Lloyd George Swaby for 30 years and proud mother to Charles & Mary Alexander, Yvonne Alexander Inman & Brian Inman, and Muriel Alexander. Renee will also be dearly missed by her stepson, Sean Swaby, grandchildren (Lee, Matthew, Rachel, & Keanna), and great-grandchild (Isla Jane) as well as her many nieces & nephews. She is survived by her sister Gwen and brother Francis Didier.

Renee is best remembered for her devout faith, generosity, sense of humour and her absolutely phenomenal meals. She loved helping, and feeding, her family, friends and even strangers. Whether it was spending time joking around with her nephews and nieces, or spending time with her siblings in Dominica, she had a light and loving nature which will be missed by all who knew her. She was proud of her work as a Medical Technician and enjoyed the friendships she made with her team at Cybermedics.

Looking down from heaven, reunited with so many loved ones, we know she is experiencing more joy that she ever imagined possible in this life. For those who knew her well, we can hear her saying “ou teau saut!” (loose translation is: don’t be ridiculous/silly) to us if we grieve for too long.

We will miss you Renee and will keep you in our thoughts, memories and prayers forevermore.

Renee loved plants, carnations, and roses.

Due to COVID 19, a private family visitation will occur at York Funeral Centre on Friday, June 11th at 9 am. A funeral service will follow at 10 am on the same day. Renee will be laid to rest in Section 28 of York Cemetery thereafter. For those who wish to view the funeral service remotely, please click on the livestream link. Kindly note that this link will only appear 10 minutes prior to the scheduled funeral service time.

Auntie Renee was a very joyful and loving person to me growing up, her home was a place of refuge and relief from bullying, a familiar face and accent in delices, she taught me about home electrical wattage conversion and helped study for common entrance exams. A delight to be around. May she rest in peace and rise in honour.
