In memory of

Raymond Fitzgerald

March 8, 1952 -  August 30, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Raymond Fitzgerald on August 30 2022 at the age of 70 following a short battle with cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of Valerie. Loving stepfather of Bryan (Alisha) and Jennifer. Dear brother of Patsy and brother-in-law to Paula, Paulette, Bill, Wayne, Lori, Donna (Bob), David, Peter (Kathy), and Paul. Loving grandfather of Tyler, Justin, Kyle, Austin, and Wiliam. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lavinia and Thomas; Sisters Julia and Margaret; Brothers, George and Jack; Sister In Law: Elva; Brothers in Law: John, Malcolm, Lee, and Stephen; and nephew Rick.

Raymond was born in Spaniards Bay, Newfoundland on March 8, 1952, and was the youngest of 6 children. He moved to Ontario when he was 19 years old. He was a jack of all trades but enjoyed working as a crane operator for 17 years. He is fondly remembered as Fitzie, a kind and patient man who was willing to help anyone in need. He was an amazing friend, creating meaningful friendships with whomever he met, especially at Duck Lake - his summer home away from home. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Lakeridge Oshawa Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Raymond’s final days, it meant a lot knowing he was so well cared for.

In memory of Raymond and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 8th from 11 am-12 pm, the service will be held immediately following @12pm.
