In memory of

Raphael LeBlanc

October 25, 1932 -  March 11, 2023

Raphael ‘Dave’ LeBlanc, at 90 years old, of Oshawa, Ontario, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Hospital, surrounded by family. Raphael was born on October 25, 1932 to Michelle and Elizabeth LeBlanc in Dominca. Growing up, he was given the nickname ‘David’ and thereafter, everyone knew him as David or Dave. After Dave graduated from high school, at 19 years old, he moved to England to pursue his studies. In 1959, David met his wife, Elizabeth Delores LeBlanc (previously Elizabeth Simon) at a wedding in London, England. David and Elizabeth went on to have 4 children: Michael LeBlanc (spouse Sherri LeBlanc), Suzanne Baker (spouse Dan Baker), Paul LeBlanc (spouse Judith LeBlanc), and Philippe LeBlanc (spouse Angela Cole). David is survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved dearly and spent most of his retired life visiting with. David and Elizabeth immigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1964 with Michael and Suzanne in tow. Shortly after, the family moved to Montreal and eventually made their way to Ontario and finally settled in Ajax, where they raised their four children - Michael, Suzanne, Paul, and Philippe. Throughout his working life, Dave worked as a steamfitter on trains in England and once in Canada, Dave worked as a Millwright. Dave was also an exceptional swimmer and almost competed in the British Commonwealth Games but instead, he enlisted in the British Army where he served for 2 years. Dave was a very involved father and coached his kid’s hockey teams. He was a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loved being outdoors. More than anything, Dave loved spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, children, and grandchildren, travelling and camping throughout Ontario. Dave was a family man, through and through, and he will be missed beyond words. David is survived by his wife, children, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved dearly and spent most of his retired life visiting with. Services will be held at Whitby Christian Assembly on March 23, 2023 at 11AM. Burial to follow at THORNTON CEMETERY and FUNERAL CENTRE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Whitby Christian Assembly and/or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

From the moment I met Papa his smile grew brighter when I would see him. He loved his family so dearly. He will be so missed. But what I do know is part of him will always be in the hearts he has touched.

To Elizabeth, Michael and all your families. My most sincere condolences on the passing of dear David. It has been my pleasure to bump into David and Elizabeth many times when younger, as a friend of Michael's and in more recent times when you both were visiting Ajax Hospital. May David fly high with the angels and sleep in everlasting peace. God Bless you all.
