In memory of
Randolph Carlyle McHeyzer
May 24, 1948 -
December 8, 2023
It is again, with broken hearts, in 2023, that we share the news of the passing of another member of our McHeyzer family. Our brother Randolph passed peacefully in his sleep on December 8, 2023. Randy, as he was called by our family, was 75 years young. He is predeceased by his parents Margie and Clarence, his two sisters, Claribel, and Estelle, and his two brothers, Cecil, and Eric.
Born in Colombo, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Randy, came to Toronto, Canada, as a young boy of about 10 years. Travelling under the care of his eldest sister Claribel, and along with his siblings, Cecil, Eunice, Elaine, and Eric, they made their way to their parents’ home in East York. He attended Gledhill Public School before going to work at East General Hospital as a security guard and Paulins Factory in Scarborough until he retired.
Randy was an aficionado of wrestling, hockey, football, and baseball. To this day, whether watching his favourites in person or on television, he could be heard shouting when his teams were not doing well. His favourite group of players were the Philadelphia Flyers of the 1970’s – Bobby Clarke, Rick McLeish, Reggie Leach, Bill Barber to name a few. He loved to attend the Toronto Marlies hockey and the Toronto Argonauts football games and often took his nephews with him. He was so thrilled when the Toronto Blue Jays were established, and he and Cecil would often attend games together.
He was our sometimes gruff and grumpy brother and uncle. Stubborn in his ways, with a soft tender heart. He leaves behind his sisters, Eleanor, Elaine (Ed) and Eunice along with his brothers-in-law, Annesley, and Ron. He will be missed by his 14 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-grand nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Sts. Peter and Paul Residence and Care facility, who watched over him during his time with them – Lani, Liezel, Aleksander, Charlene, Isabel, Vicky, Heather, Virginia, Wamalie, Minerva and Halyna. We are eternally grateful for all your support.
Internment will take place on Wednesday, December 27th, immediately followed by a celebration of life, at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough beginning at 12:00noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Sts. Peter and Paul Residence (221 Milner Road, Scarborough). The service can be livestreamed through website, a Link will be available on Wednesday, December 27th starting at 12:45pm. The link will appear at the very top of this Memorial Page.
Randy has found his way home and is now reunited with his sisters, brothers and parents. Rest in peace our brother and uncle, we will miss you.
