In memory of

Raffi Moks

January 27, 1925 -  October 14, 2018

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Raffi Moks on October 14, 2018. Raffi passed away peacefully with his loving daughter, Linda and her life partner, Vaino, by his side. He will be deeply missed by his granddaughter, Merike Kolga and sister-in-law, Siiri Lepp. Raffi was born 93 years ago in Nõmme, Estonia. With the invasion of Estonia by the Russian Forces in 1943, Raffi volunteered with the Finnish Army.

After the war, Raffi began a new life in Sweden and became active in scouting. It was through scouting that he met and married Eevi Lepp.

In 1952, Raffi emigrated to Canada where he pursued a career path with Canadian Pacific Railways until he retired as the Assistant Regional Manager Intermodal Services. Raffi saw scouting as a means of inspiring the next general of Estonian youth. As qualified Arms Instructor, he took it upon himself to develop this sport within the scouting movement. He was a true Estonian patriot and served on the executives of several Estonian organizations that lobbied for a free and independent Estonia, including the Estonian Central Council in Canada. In recognition of his tireless work, Raffi was awarded the Order of White Cross V Class by the President of Estonia in 2006.
