Surrounded by his loving family, Raffaele Del Medico passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Michael Garron Hospital, aged 84.
Raffaele was more than just a father and a husband—he was the heart of our family, the pillar on which we all leaned. His life was a testament to extraordinary strength, unwavering love, and an unbreakable will that carried him through a lifetime of challenges. Born in Monteleone di Puglia, Raffaele’s childhood was marked by hardships that would have broken many, yet they only fueled his kindness, compassion, and drive to build a better life for his family in Canada.
He was cared for at home almost until the end by his family. He survived his wife by almost 50 years, living more than half of his days without the love of his life. He was always positive and led quietly, always with a light in his eyes that he shared with others to ease their burdens. A true gentleman who never thought about being kind—he just was, to everyone around him. Not only will his family miss him, but the world will feel his absence, as he brought light, tolerance, and joy to those around him every day of his life.
He will be reunited with his beloved wife Maria, whose love was the light of his life. He is survived by his two sons, Vincenzo and Angelo, and his daughter-in-law Monique.
For those fortunate enough to know Raffaele, his kindness was a rare and precious gift. He gave freely to all, offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and wise words to anyone in need. His love for his family was unconditional—the bedrock on which he built his world. He never sought recognition for his sacrifices, yet his legacy of compassion, generosity, and unwavering love will live on forever in our hearts.
His life was a testament to what it means to love deeply, live honestly, and stand strong in the face of adversity.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m. at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Pine Hills Funeral Centre.
