Rael Lomp, nee Jaanson.
Rael Lomp passed away peacefully in her room at the Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor in Toronto, on November 23rd. She had been a resident at Meighen Manor for eight years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gunnar Kenneth, son and daughter-in-law, Gunnar Edgar and Ene, her granddaughters Leila and Leiki with their partners Robert and Michael, her sister Ruth, nephew Jan-Eric with his family, and her caregivers at the Davis wing of Meighen Manor, Delores and Sharon.
Rael was born in Tallinn Estonia on December 20, 1932, spent her adolescent years in Gothenberg Sweden and immigrated to Toronto Canada in 1951 where she married Gunnar Kenneth in 1953. Rael was employed by the Royal Bank of Canada for several decades working her way up from Teller to Assistant Manager and Bank Inspector. During her time at RBC, she received many awards and was respected and loved by her colleagues.
Rael was an avid supporter of animal rights and care and a loving caregiver to many pets over the years. She was confirmed into St Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Toronto and was active in the congregation throughout her life until her illness.
Visitation will be held in the Chapel at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Funeral Centre on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 and burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army in Canada and/or the Toronto Humane Society.
