In memory of

錢何佩瑶夫人 Pui Yiu Pat Chin

April 21, 1936 -  January 19, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Pui Yiu Pat Chin announced her passing on her 89th year on January 19, 2025 at the Sunnybrook Hospice of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side.

Pat is survived by her loving and devoted husband Ted of 71 years, her loving daughters Nancy (Jim), Kathy (Ron), and Marianne (Peter) and six beautiful grandchildren Elizabeth, Andrew (April), Aaron, Kaitlyn, Ryan and Kurtis and sweet great grandson Liam. She is also survived by her loving sister Grace, her dedicated and helpful nephews David (Joy), Stephen (Chris) and grandnephews Kevin and Luke and grandniece Lauren. Pat is survived by her many cousins in Vancouver, the United States and Hong Kong. Pat is also survived by her close and loving sister-in-law Mae, and many nephews and nieces, and grandnephews and grandnieces.
Pat was predeceased by her parents Ho Lai Yung and Ho Tao Yuk Ying, and her brother-in-laws Joseph, Henry Dave, Jack, Jeffrey, and Jackie and her sister- in- laws, Jenny and Lillian.

Pat and Ted found love and got married in Hong Kong. They settled and began their new life in Toronto. Pat enjoyed singing, cooking, travelling, learning to play badminton in her 80’s and caring for her family and her friends. She was always keen to create and share new recipes. She was very much appreciated by her friends and co-workers for her positive and joyful personality.

Pat was a devoted Christian and enjoyed her walk with God through her life and final days. We are assured she is at the best place with God

As an expression of sympathy you may make a donation to the Odette Cancer Centre of Sunnybrook Heath Sciences Centre or to the Veteran Centre of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in lieu of flowers.
The family of Pat wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Sunnybrook Hospital and the Sunnybrook Hospice and the staff at the Ontario Health at Home who had provided excellent care and comfort to Pat.

Auntie Pat cared for everyone and loved deeply even if at times it may not have seemed that way. Whenever you had a chance to eat her cooking, it was always with great anticipation as she would impress even my Dad who was a pretty good cook himself. Auntie Pat always encouraged me in my faith through much of my life. I think she may have conspired with my grandmother (who first took my brother and me to church in Chinatown when little boys), to keep us going to church when we moved from Vancouver to Toronto. I remember in our early teens we did everything to avoid her invites to come to church with her. She was never pushy but gently encouraged us.

I can't imagine how difficult it was for her these last few years going through cancer treatment, but her strong faith in Jesus would have carried her through to her rest.

She raised 3 amazing girls and was an equally amazing wife to Uncle Ted all while touching lives around her (like me) through her love and friendship - a truly eternal legacy.
