In memory of
Potito (Peter) Maulucci
August 18, 1931 -
January 11, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Potito (Peter) Maulucci, on January 11, 2023, after a years-long struggle with Alzheimer’s. He was 91.
Peter will be dearly missed by Shirley, his beloved wife of 60 years and will be forever cherished by his five (5) children, Brigette (and Tim Bodnar), Cynthia (and Dean Mazzone), Frank, Robert (and Marnie) and Steven.
His seven (7) adoring grandchildren, Ryan, Kody, Kirsten, Emily, Isabella, Victoria and Samantha, will forever miss their loving grandfather, (“Papa Nonno,” “G-Pa,” “Gramps,” “Grandpa.”)
He will be reunited with his late father and mother, Francesco and Brigida (nee De Paolis), his brother Gennaro and sisters Eugenia (and Antonio) Lamanna, Lavinia (and Silvio) Sansano and Carmela (and Guiseppe) Schiavone.
Uncle Peter will be fondly remembered also, by his nieces and nephews, as well as his cousins.
Born in Italy, Peter served his country in the Italian Air Force from 1952 to 1954. In 1955, he travelled by ship to New York and immigrated to Canada soon afterward. He then met and married the love of his life, Shirley, with whom he had 5 children. As the sole bread winner, Peter often worked more than 2 jobs to provide a comfortable life for his wife and 5 children. In keeping with his entrepreneurial spirit, at the age of 55, Peter started his own business, which continues to thrive with his sons at the helm, more than 20 years after he retired, at the age of 70.
Peter’s love of life and family, contagious smile, generosity, gregariousness, hospitality, patriotism and his unrivaled work ethic, will always be remembered.
Visitation will be held at 1 pm on Saturday January 21, 2023, after which the funeral will commence at 2 pm, followed by the burial and reception at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre at 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough.
If desired, family and friends are welcome to offer their condolences on the memorial page, send flowers, or make a donation in lieu of flowers to the Scarborough General Hospital at Love, Scarborough lovescarborough.ca or The Alzheimer Society of Ontario https://alzheimer.ca/on/en/about-us/alzheimer-society-ontario.
The family also wishes to thank and recognize the excellent care provided by the Scarborough General Hospital.
Peter will be sorely missed.
Rest in peace. Riposare in pace.
