Ping-Yih Kwong passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022, at Markham Stouffville Hospital with her children by her side after a short battle with liver cancer.
Ping is survived by her husband Moon-Kin, her two children Karen (Gary) and Jonathan (Jessie), and three grandchildren Carter, Berlin, and Sennett.
Education was always very important to Ping and a feather in her cap, having gone to True Light High School in Hong Kong, graduating from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and earning her Masters of Sociology from the University of Toronto.
Soon after graduating, she began working for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, spent the majority of her career at Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and finally retired as a medical adjudicator for the Disability Adjudication Unit.
In her spare time, she loved to watch Chinese shows, travel, shop, eat out, socialize with friends, and brag about her grandchildren.
Ping will always be remembered for lighting up each room she entered, and for her
quirky humour which entertained her friends and family alike.
The family would like to thank all the healthcare professionals at Sunnybrook Hospital and Markham Stouffville Hospital for the excellent care they provided during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Markham Stouffville Hospital (links can be found under the donations tab).
Burial will take place after the Funeral service, followed by a luncheon.
