In memory of

Phyllis Yorke

June 6, 1933 -  July 31, 2022

Phyllis Yorke fell asleep in death on July 31, 2022 at 12:45 pm in the hospital with her daughter, Nicola, by her side.

Phyllis was born on June 6, 1933 in St. Joseph Trinidad West Indies. Sadly her mother died when she was 6 years old. She and 2 of her siblings were sent to live with their grandmother. Her early life was quite difficult, but she endured and later found a job in the Trinidad Water Department.

Phyllis married a handsome policeman, Winston Yorke, on September 28, 1963. They had one daughter and in 1968 and they immigrated to Toronto Canada where they lived until Winston’s death in 1990. She worked at the College of Nurses for many years and later the Ontario Courts.

The most important date in Phyllis’ life was in August 1974, the day of her baptism. Phyllis had always wondered about why people have to die. Her study of the Bible explained this and led her to the wonderful hope that Jesus Christ promised of everlasting life in Paradise. Throughout her life she had strong faith in Jehovah God and trusted him implicitly.

Phyllis endured her many infirmities throughout the years. She firmly held to her convictions, relied on God and believed that she was in God’s capable hands. She did not give up though hospitalized a number of times after suffering a stroke in 2010. Phyllis loved to travel with her daughter and visited many places around the world including Israel, Egypt, Europe, Australia and the Caribbean. The highlight was living a year in London England. Phyllis loved the beauty of God’s creations. We will miss her outspokenness, sense of humour, industriousness, artistic ability, storytelling and the delicious food she prepared.

Phyllis’ joy came from serving Jehovah, her daughter, her family both spiritual and fleshly and her dogs Jiji and Lily-Kiwi. Phyllis was determined to endure until the end and never lost her love, trust and faith in our wonderful God Jehovah.
