Philip ET Ng, 1933-2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Philip ET Ng on February 24, 2025, at the age of 91, in Toronto, Ontario. He departed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and the grace of his Christian faith.

Born on November 8, 1933, in Hong Kong, Philip lived a life of purpose and devotion. As an entrepreneur, he built a legacy of hard work and creativity, but his true calling was being a lifelong servant of God. For 8 years in Thailand, while running his own business in men’s custom clothing, he served as lay missionary to remote villages. After immigrating to Canada, together with two other families, Agincourt Chinese Baptist Church (later became the Bridle Trail Baptist Church and Wismer Baptist Church) was started in response to the spiritual needs of the community. With unwavering faith, he continued to minister to others especially through intercessory prayers when he became physically fragile in recent years.

Philip was a devoted husband to Molin Ng for 62 years, a partnership rooted in love, faith, and mutual strength. Above all, he cherished his role as a father to his three children (David, Esther and James), guiding them with wisdom and the light of God’s teachings. His life was a beacon of grace, marked by perseverance, hope and generosity.

Philip is survived by his beloved wife, Molin, and his three children, David (May), Esther (Victor), and James (Jennifer), along with cherished grandchildren: Joshua, Daniel, Priscilla, Jeremiah and Jonathan.

A memorial service to honor Philip’s life and faith will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 am (viewing at 9am) at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Rd, North York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bridle Trail Baptist Church, Wismer Baptist Church or Toronto Swatow Baptist Church.

“‘Well done, good and faithful servant’—Matthew 25:23.”

Our condolences. Your walk in Christ has been encouragment to many.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
