Peter Toulis Obituary (1934 - 2024) | Markham, Ontario

Peter (Pandel) Toulis, of Markham, Ontario, passed away on December 31, 2024, at the age of 90, after a long and fulfilling life. He was the beloved husband of Rose (Trena) for 67 years and the loving father of Alex (Sofia), Diane (David), and Linda (Terry). Known as Dedo, he was a cherished grandfather to Theodore (Irene), Andrew (Minnie), Lucas, Lexie (Dave), Timothy (Julie), and Nevenah. He was also the brother of the late Pandora (the late Elias) of Australia and the late Lazaros (the late Photini). Peter will always be fondly remembered and cherished by his extended family and many friends.

Born in Sveta Petka (Lerin), Peter came to Canada in 1950 in search of better opportunities and to fulfill his entrepreneurial spirit. He was a proud Canadian who found immense joy and fulfillment in contributing to his community.

Peter's love and care touched not only his family and friends but also the countless customers and co-workers he interacted with at his restaurants over the past 60+ years. He was known for his warm hospitality, hearty laughter, and the joy he found in sharing stories with others. One of Peter's greatest passions was Macedonian music and dancing. He never missed an opportunity to dance with pure joy and to share his love for his heritage with everyone around him.

Friends are invited to a visitation at the Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto, on Saturday, January 4, from 1-2 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow at 2pm with interment at Pine Hills Cemetery.

Our hearts go out to the Toulis family. Peter ( Mr. T / Teddybear) will be greatly missed. A man of great compassion, patience and positivity, so warm and bright like rays of sunshine. A great mentor and friend. Who encouraged and inspired many. Always knew how to turn those frowns upside down. Even if it meant dancing around the counter at the restaurant at 6 a.m. in the morning, while singing Jukebox Juli Saturday night. Note I was not a morning person, ha ha. Of course there was the shannagans via phone with the other crew at the other restaurant. Always called me his best waitress. Peter always had his staff's back and treated them like family. We all were given nicknames and I will forever cherish mine.

We lived on a farm across from the restaurant that Peter had on the south side of Sheppard Ave. between Brimley and McCowan. I remember him as a very kind man. Sometimes my mother would phone Peter to order fish and chips, then send my sister and me to the end of our long driveway with the money. Peter would bring the order across the road so we didn't have to cross. I'm sorry for your loss.
