In memory of

Peter Panagiotis Koccoris

July 10, 1935 -  April 10, 2025

It is with profound sadness that the family of Panagiotis (Peter) Koccoris announces his peaceful passing on Thursday, April 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in the humble village of Apidia, Laconia, near Sparta, Greece, on July 10, 1935 to Konstantinos and Stamata Koccoris, Peter’s life was a true testament to resilience, perseverance, and love. He emigrated to Canada, where he built a successful career and a beautiful life, rooted in devotion to family, faith, and community. A man of elegance and charm, Peter was known for his impeccable style—often dressed in a suit, tie, pocket square, and sometimes a rose on his lapel—but it was his generous spirit and kind heart that left a lasting mark on everyone he met. He built not only many thriving businesses in the restaurant industry, but also a legacy of loyalty and integrity. He was also one of the founding members of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Scarborough, a commitment shared with his late brother George and one that reflected the deep faith instilled in him by his father.

Most of all, Peter was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 56 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Helen, a bond marked by love, mutual respect, and unwavering partnership. He was the proud father of Dean (Kiki) and Yvonne (George), and a cherished grandfather to Eleni, Melina, and Paige, who were the joys of his life. His wisdom, values, and warm presence will remain with them always.

Peter’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched—family, friends, and community members alike. His memory will be a guiding light, reminding us all to lead with love, work hard, and give generously.

Visitation will take place at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Scarborough on Tuesday, April 22, from 4:00–8:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow on Wednesday, April 23, at 2:00 PM (Visitation on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 pm).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, in honour of Peter’s enduring faith and contributions to the community.

“A beautiful life does not end in death, but begins in memory.”

- Ancient Greek proverb
