Pieter (Peter) Jeep Idzerda
Born: Jan 21, 1934
Died: May 27, 2023
Peter passed away peacefully in his 89th year, after battling dementia and slowly getting weaker. Peter loved his family deeply, which was evident even as he declined, by him always saying as we were leaving “please come again soon, I really loved this”. He was always willing to help anyone that needed it, always giving freely from his heart of gold. In better years he loved working with his hands as shown by the beautiful house he built for his family in the mid to late 70’s. In later life, he kept busy by building furniture and refinishing antiques. He loved growing things… plants inside all year, or amazing vegetable gardens in the summer from which the whole family benefitted. Peter and the love of his life Willy, were married for almost 64 years and had four sons.
Peter is survived by his loving wife Willy; Children who were all his pride and joy: Dirk (Shirley), daughter-in-law Carola (Doug), Peter (Monique), Marc (Marissa); Grand-children whom he adored: Jason (Katie), Kevin, Justin, Josiah (Jenna), Rachel (Steve), Daniel (Amanda), Sarah (Josh), Anna, Kimberley (Aaron), Zach, Devin, Rebecca, Josh, Jake, Noah, Paul; Great Grandchildren whom he loved to see: Claire, Maya, Robyn, Olivia, Zander, Ivy, Selah, Eden, Liam, Violet. Also survived by sister Lucy (Louis) and numerous extended family members and friends.
Peter was predeceased by his second son Cor, two siblings, his parents and multiple extended family members.
A Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes, that we’re together again.”
