In memory of

Peter Charlton

April 15, 1955 -  September 3, 2023

Peter died peacefully after a short illness. As someone who lived with HIV for over 40 years, Peter lived his life out loud, proud and to the fullest – as an entrepreneur, competitive athlete and philanthropist.

Peter was married to the love of his life, Ken Lomas, who was always patient, generous and kind. And he was stepdad to two beautiful, intelligent and strong daughters, Claire and Ava, who filled his heart with love, pride and joy.

Peter grew up in Montreal and moved to Toronto in his 20s. He remained close through the years with his childhood friend, Heather Seeger, and was an extended family member of the Leech clan. Peter had many friends in Toronto, Montreal, Fort Lauderdale and around the world.

In the early days of the AIDS crisis, Peter lost many friends who were family. Thanks for Dr. Ken Logue for providing great care to Peter for over 20 years, along with the many other medical teams who helped him survive and thrive over the years. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Casey House (www.caseyhouse.com).

A celebration of life will take place at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Funeral Centre on Saturday, September 23 at 11 am, with gathering time half an hour prior.

I have so many wonderful memories of Peter, in our kitchen in Lachine, making us laugh. He ate at our house so often Mom considered him to be one of her kids and would tell him to hold back when company was coming. I remember his beautiful laugh, energy and bouncing walk! Sweet man, wishing him a safe journey onwards.

Peter’s generous spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. I count myself blessed to be of those people. I will never forget Peter Charlton.

I LOVED Peter and all of his quirkiness. He was a kind hearted giving person. He was a regular attendee of Center for Spiritual Living in Ft Lauderdale every winter. He would always pull up in his convertible sports car looking dapper. Sending love to Ken and the family.

Blessings
