Our hearts are broken and we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Peter at the age of 66. Surrounded by the love of his family, holding his hands, and listening to the gentle sounds of Lighthouse, Peter died peacefully on November 15, 2018, at Hill House Hospice, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife, Kelly, of 31 years; his daughter, Alyssa; and his son, Julian. Most loved son-in-law to Millie (Smith), special friend to Bob Moore and “our boy” to Clare Moore.
Son of the late Helen and Edward "Ted" Tompkins. He is survived by a sister, Cathy (Sandy).
He will be remembered by neighbours and friends for helpfulness with gardening, all things Costco, his love of nature, and fond cottage memories. FedEx friends and customers will remember him for his customer service and love of driving. He had recently retired after 29 years’ service.
A special thank you to Dr. Berger and Hill House Hospice for care in his final days, and to the many doctors and nurses at the Odette Cancer Centre, Sunnybrook Hospital, for encouragement during treatments.
Arrangements have been made for a private family funeral. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held in the spring of 2019. To remember Peter, the family asks that donations be made to Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill or to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital.
