In memory of

Peggy Podmore

September 17, 1920 -  January 19, 2018

Podmore, Peggy Joanna Eileen
Mom was born on September 17th, 1920 in Southsea, Portsmouth, England to Charles Howard Heaton and Edith Helen Hodgson. Mom was the second of three children - an older brother Henry Howard (known as "Hal") and a younger sister Lois Emily.

Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep in Pickering, Ontario on the morning of Friday January 19th, 2018. The last few years had been a challenge for her. Surprisingly though, she came through a hip replacement last Summer with flying colours.

Mom leaves behind her two sons Timothy John (Eleanor) and Michael David James (Trish). Also left to mourn are her grandchildren Carl (Emily), Jessie (Tom), Lauren and Chris, as well as her great-grandchildren Jaelyn and Damien.

Mom was predeceased by her first husband Ronald Arthur Luke (July 8, 1940) and her second husband, our father, Laurance Taylor Podmore (May 18, 1990).

A good woman died today
Flags were not flown at half mast
School children attended classes
And life went on as it did yesterday,
and will again tomorrow
But she was our friend and mother,
and people should know
A good person died today

Rest in peace Mom; you will be missed, loved and remembered always. We hope you meet up with Dad, and your Mummy and Daddy. When you do, send our love.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in her name, or simply do something kind for someone else.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of the woman I knew as "Aunty Peg". Our family's visits to the Haliburton cottage with her (and "Uncle Pod" in earlier years!) are cherished childhood memories. Dinners around the table, including roasts, and the most wonderful gravy! I loved playing Trivial pursuit with Peg, Pod and my parents (even though I never knew any answers, I felt so grown up!)

When I visited her in 2000 as an adult when I visited Canada, it was a highlight of my trip. The photo I took of the cottage still hangs from the wall in my parents house.

I can only hope others memories of her are as happy as mine are!

Condolences to you all.

Dear Auntie Peggy - all I have is good memories of times shared together. The best childhood holidays when we came as a family to be with you all at the lake. I remember the frogs, the bears, the fishing, the water skiing.......but most of all I just remember feeling really happy as a family - us Watsons, Podmores, and other Watsons.
Auntie Peggy and Uncle Pod were fun and created a happy place to be.

And later in life I visited Auntie Peggy with my then husband and stepson and we had such a fun time hanging out in the cottage and Alex (my stepson) thought Auntie Peggy was so cool and she let him watch all the sport he wanted to - so she could too!

Such a remarkable woman - sister to my also remarkable mum.
Will always remember you dear Auntie Peggy with the fondest of memories and with great love in my heart.

Dear Tim and Mike
I am sorry to hear of Peggy passing away. I still remember our holidays so many years ago. Then when I was 19 spending 2 weeks up at the cottage and getting to know Peg and Pod as a young adult.we had some great times and sank quite a few beers. Both your parents were wonderful people and Peg was such a laugh and a very warm person. I hope they are together now.
With my very best wishes to you both
