In memory of

Paul William Brown

September 23, 1949 -  February 14, 2024

After a brief illness, Paul William Brown, aged 74, passed away on February 14, 2024 in Toronto. He died surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Paul was born September 23, 1949 in Toronto. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Dorothy Brown (nee Clements). His kind spirit and love of life is carried on by those who survived him: his wife Mary Jo Smith, his son Kevin (Robin), his daughter Jennifer (David), his grandchildren Sophie and Olivia Brown, his sisters Patricia Wenstrom (Gord), Karen Leonty (Bernie), and Barbara Erickson (Keith), nieces Emily and Sarah Erickson, beloved cousin to Gayle Brennan and Kim Sears, and nephew to Bea McMillen. Paul is also lovingly remembered by Simon and Thomas Savoie, and Samantha Sinn.

The early years of Paul’s long career in sales and marketing took him and his family to some of the places he would come to love: the Okanagan and Northern British Columbia as well as Washington, Oregon, and California in the Pacific United States. He relished the sun, skiing and oceanside lifestyle. Along the way he made countless, lifelong friends. He returned home to Toronto for the last 30 years of his life. It was during these years he met Mary Jo and they began their life together. Paul and Mary Jo enjoyed extensive travel, the company of good friends, as well as countless rounds of golf and friendly competition. More than anything, they loved each other.

Paul’s adventurous spirit, boisterous personality, and natural ease underscored his desire to connect with people. From travelling to places afar with Mary Jo, or spending cherished time with his family and friends, Paul lived life whole. He will be remembered by all for his benevolent heart.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the healthcare providers at Mt. Sinai and Toronto General Hospital who were involved in Paul’s care. Special thanks to Drs. Sean Balmain and Robert Cusimano for their extraordinary efforts.

Dear Kevin and Jen. We are so very sorry to learn of your dad’s passing.
Lots of memories dating back to Prince George where we met. Meeting your family was a life saver for us to have neighbours move in who became life long friends. Then in Kelowna we were lucky enough to have you move there and share more memories. Hang on to those memories as they are golden. Just know how much we care. Love you lots ❤️
