In memory of

Paul Willem Horsten

January 19, 1937 -  March 26, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paulus Willem Horsten, who was born to Pete and Trudy Horsten in Dordrecht, Holland in 1937. He was the second oldest of four children, Hans, Carrie and Peter. Paul married Sheilagh, and recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Alison, Christopher, (Tania) and Louise, and will be missed by his grandchildren, Calvin and Emily, Matthew, Michael and Justin, and Wyatt. Paul's passion was airplanes and flying, and he spent his days working as an aircraft engineer, and his free time at the Brampton Flying Club, working on his plane, the Flybaby, and taking to the sky. When he wasn't in the air, you could find him sailing his sailboat, The Flying Dutchman, in the lakes around Elim Lodge, and Lake Ontario. His passion for aviation led him to a career in aircraft engineering where he was able to travel the world. He was a man of God, and led his family by example by attending Brampton Pentecostal Church for most of his life. In recent years, Paul's mind fell to Alzheimer's disease and his ability to remember became worse. He always knew his wife Sheilagh, if not in words, by his smile and the light in his eyes when she was around. He will be missed, and we will cherish knowing that he had a life well loved and lived.
We would like to thank the staff at Faith Manor, especially his personal support workers, who showed love and respect and always treated him like a Grandfather of their own. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Peel Alzheimer's Association, as Paul benefited from their day programs.

You have been so blessed to have had his love and guidance for so many years and you all did a wonderful job of supporting him and your mom during his journey with Alzheimer’s.
