With great sadness and a deep sense of loss we celebrate the life of Paul F. Simon. The most wonderful Father to Trixi, a doting Grandfather to Matilda, dear husband to Kathy, revering Father-in-law to Johnny, amazing son, grandson, brother and true friend to so many. Paul passed away peacefully at the Trillum Hospital in Mississauga with his daughter Trixi and wife Kathy by his side.
Paul was a man who was honorable, loving, caring, supportive, honest and real! He was tough on the outside and soft on the inside. Handsome, romantic and a true ladies man Paul’s favourite holiday was Valentine’s Day. ❤️ Paul was a straight shooter, what you saw was what you got. Born in Budapest Hungary, raised mainly by his loving Grandparents in Gomba, just outside the city, Paul was an independent and mischievous little boy. He had a true love for reading, history, nature, cats, cars, engines, anything electric and started fixing cars at a very young age. Soon enough he was a certified automobile technician. Paul even spent a number of years in the Hungarian Army and because of his skills he was in charge of the truck maintenance team where he continued to practice what he loved. He made lots of friends, ate well and was even a featherweight boxer for sport. Paul was a true gear-head and found his tribe and comfort with like minded people who also loved classic cars like him. They were his friends and he was theirs… A real camaraderie. He didn’t consider his craft to be work as he loved it so much. It was never about making money rather the love of ‘The Fix’ for Paul.
After immigrating to Montreal Canada in 1968 he found a favourite city and built a new life for himself. A new family was on the horizon for Paul. Being married to Jolie, with a newborn daughter, Trixi, family made him such a happy man. He loved being a Dad, especially to a daughter. Though he loved Montreal and The Habs work took Paul and family to Toronto where he worked hard and put down his roots. Doing the best they could Jolie and Paul decided to go their separate ways. One chapter of his life finished with Jolie and the next began with Kathy.
Paul found love again in a most unexpected place. She was a friend, neighbour and recently widowed. They were a beautiful match and Paul found a loving, supportive partner, best friend, doting lover and true companion in Kathy. She was beautiful, smart, warm, educated, stylish and her cooking skills were second to none. Paul really hit the jackpot!
Respected by colleagues and sought after by clients for his knowledge and expertise, Paul decided to finally be his own boss and bought his friend’s auto shop. Sportstune 95’ was his baby and a place he could hone his skills as a small business owner and continue to practice his specialty in the often frustrating yet satisfying complexities of fixing British and European cars.
As the years went on Paul and Kathy slowly slipped into retirement. The two lovebirds went for walks in Centennial Park to feed the geese and ducks. They travelled to Hungary annually where they spent their summers, met with family and friends, enjoyed life and their sweet little cats. Paul and Kathy were elated to finally be Grandparents to their little Matilda. She was the light of their world, the light of Paul’s life. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t look through her photos on his iPad always looking forward to the next time he could see or speak to her. In his later years, Kathy proved to be an incredible care giver and his very own nurse as he struggled with a Parkinsonism and Dementia. Their commitment to each other was fierce and their love for each other still burning bright until his last breath.
Rest in peace my dear sweet Father! May God always bless you and know that we will love you for all eternity!
Love Always Trixi 💞
