Dear Friends and Family:

Please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of the late Mrs. Patricia P.W. Fong.

Patricia was an eldest daughter, an eldest sister, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. In addition, she was a mentor, co-worker, teacher, principal, family member and friend to many of you during her life.

Patricia was born on May 13, 1950 in Macau, SAR. She completed primary school at Tak Sing School in Hong Kong, SAR in 1961, and subsequently completed secondary school at Ling Ying College in Hong Kong, SAR in 1967. She then traveled to Taipei, Taiwan to pursue further studies at National Taiwan Normal University, obtaining her BA in English & Teaching in 1971. Upon graduation, Patricia returned to Hong Kong, SAR to work as a teacher at Holy Carpenter School and Ying Wa Boy's College, becoming a Qualified Teacher in Hong Kong, SAR in 1974.

She subsequently immigrated to Toronto, Canada where she met her late husband, Mr. Eddie W.C. Fong, whom she married on Aug. 21, 1976. Like many immigrants to Canada, Patricia was extremely conscientious and ambitious. She pursued a 20 year banking career at Scotiabank, National Trust and Canada Trust - whilst also earning a BA in Economics from the University of Toronto in 1985, helping run her husband's business, and raising her three children.

After her banking career, Patricia returned to her roots as an educator where she worked with the Toronto Catholic District School Board in various roles until the date of her death, most notably at Francis Libermann Catholic High School and St. Ignatious of Loyola's International Languages program.

On Oct. 24, 2021, Patricia passed away from complications related to un-detected, late stage cancer. Patricia is survived by her three children, Jeannie Y.C. Fong, Clara J.W. Fong and Oscar C. Fong, and her three grandchildren, Cameron Eng, Callie Eng and Oliver Garrard.

All funds donated through this page will support the work of the Canadian Cancer Society. Every donation to the Canadian Cancer Society brings us one step closer to preventing cancer, detecting it earlier, improving treatments and helping other Canadians live longer, healthier lives.

Sincerely,

Jeannie, Clara and Oscar

My condolences to the family. It was heartbreaking to me to hear about her passing. She was a very nice lady to everyone. She was friendly to me. She wasn’t at Libermann at the time my daughter started taking Mandarin classes. I’m sad that I never got to tell her that my daughter is studying Mandarin and is enjoying it. I also miss how she would bring in treats during Chinese New Years.

Patricia was so lovely. She was always willing to help out with anything we needed. She was a translator for us and she was an Amazing educator. She helped me on many occasions with my students. She worked countless hours at school and Saturday school.

She was always so pleasant. She brought Chinese New Year to Libermann every year and showcased her amazing culture. She would ask about my boys and she would show me pictures of her grandchildren.

I was blessed to have worked with her. May she rest in peace.

I'm extremely sorry for your loss. Patricia was such a giving and helpful colleague. She was always there to lend a helping hand and was such a fun person to be around. She helped me connect with my International students and we all enjoyed having her in our classes. Sending my love and prayers to you all in this difficult time.
