It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia Margaret Price (née Carrie) in Burlington, Ontario, on August 28th, 2026, in her 85th year.
Patricia, daughter of the late Margaret Craig Carrie and Gilbert Campbell Carrie, leaves behind her beloved son, Jason, and cherished grandson, Justin. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Dianne (Peter) Wright, Pamela Carrie, Craig (the late Diane) Carrie, and Shawn (the late Wayne) Carrie, as well as her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Pat was born in Sinclair, Manitoba, on November 29, 1941, and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where she grew up surrounded by the beauty and adventure of Northern Ontario. She always spoke fondly of her childhood in the Sault and often said it was a great place to come from. The city remained close to her heart throughout her life.
In her twenties, Pat began her career in Toronto with Tele-Direct Yellow Pages as a salesperson, eventually rising to a managerial position. Her career later took her to New Delhi, India, where she served as General Sales Manager for three years, an extraordinary experience she always remembered with great enthusiasm. After a successful 33-year career, Pat retired and embraced a new chapter filled with friendship, travel, and adventure.
One of the best decisions of her retirement, she often said, was joining the CFUW – Leaside East York Scholarship Trust. There she found what she described as the greatest group of ladies, smart, interesting, active, and supportive. Pat also treasured her book club and gourmet group, and the many friendships, laughter, and special times they shared.
Travel was one of Pat’s greatest passions. She visited nearly every province and territory in Canada and, for 17 wonderful years, travelled regularly to Florida and Mexico with some of her dearest friends. One of her most unforgettable adventures was spending a month in East Africa, where she went on safari and experienced what she described as an absolutely marvelous journey. She also loved hot-air ballooning and once said, “It’s the best way to see everything.” That sense of curiosity and adventure was truly Pat.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many healthcare professionals who cared for Pat with such compassion and kindness, especially the wonderful staff at Carpenter Hospice.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) – East York, an organization that brought Pat so much friendship and joy.
Visitation will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, Ontario, M4T 2V8, on Thursday, October 1st at 12:30 pm.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception at the funeral home.
An interment ceremony will take place at St. Luke’s Cathedral Columbarium at a later date in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Pat lived a full and meaningful life, filled with family, friendship, travel, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. She will be remembered for her independence, adventurous spirit, and her ability to embrace life and make the most of every chapter.
