In memory of

Ovidiu Cornel Muntean

November 11, 1963 -  April 30, 2024

It is with very heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of Ovidiu Cornel Muntean “Ovi” on April 30th 2024, at the young age of 60.

Ovidiu will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by Mirela, his wife of 36 years, daughter Monica, son Sebastian, mother Viorica, cat “Cat aka Pisi” and his beloved family, friends and colleagues.

Ovidiu was born on November 11, 1963, in the heart of Transylvania, in the quaint town of Sighisoara to Viorica and Cornel Muntean (predeceased). He spent his childhood years there, and moved to the beautiful city of Brasov at the age of 7 with his parents, where he attended his elementary and highschool years.
In 1982, Ovidiu spent 9 months serving a mandatory term in the Romanian Armed Forces.
While attending University of Transylvania, he started working for IAR Ghimbav (Romanian Aeronautic Industry) as a milling machine operator, further promoted to a technology design technician for fix-wing Romanian fighter aircrafts, and upon graduating with an Engineering Degree in Welding, further advanced as a welding Engineer for aircraft and helicopter frames.

Ovidiu met his future wife Mirela in 1984, and got married in 1988. Together they raised 2 beautiful children, daughter Monica aka Maimu, born in 1988, and son Sebastian aka Bebe, born in 1989. Together they enjoyed many family vacations, celebrations, and events.
In the year 2000, they immigrated to Toronto Canada, in search of a new adventure for their family. They settled in Brampton Ontario, where they made new friends who became family, created wonderful memories together, and strived to create a fulfilling life.
In order to provide for his family, Ovidiu graciously worked as a tradesman until the day of his passing.

Ovidiu had many hobbies and interests throughout his lifetime, including cycling (an esteemed member of the Brampton Cycling Club), building and flying model airplanes (a member of the Brampton Flying Club), spending time in nature, mountain climbing, swimming, skiing, spending quality time with loved ones, and having desserts with lots and lots and lots of chocolate cream filling!

Ovidiu was an inspiration and a role model for many who had the opportunity to meet him, spend a little bit of time with him, and share a conversation or two with him. His family is deeply saddened by his untimely departure, and will be sorely missed.

The family extends their deep gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the first responders, the friends and strangers who provided assistance on scene, staff at Georgetown Hospital, and to all the family, friends and colleagues who provided care and support during this incredibly difficult time.

May his soul Rest in Peace.

Just keep riding…
