In memory of

Ouida Eleanor Simms

February 23, 1944 -  February 20, 2025

Born in Kingston, Jamaica on February 23, 1944, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025 with her loved ones by her side, including the caring and amazing staff at McKenzie Place in Newmarket.
Ouida was a daughter to Hillary and Virginia Simms, a proud and caring mother to Warren C. Ford and Wayne C. Ford, and her daughter-in-law, Jenny Ford. She also had a devoted and loving relationship as grandmother to Danielle Ford and Lauren Ford. She was sister to Kay Rhoden, Yvonne Simms, and Lodi Hind. She was a loving aunt to several nephews and nieces…Paul, Robert, Michael, Althea, Peter, Gary, and Denise, just to name a few. Ouida retired from Bell Canada in 1996 after a long and enjoyable career.
She was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed listening to music, such as jazz, Barry Manilow, George Benson, and Neil Diamond. A private celebration will be held to celebrate the life of Ouida Simms at Elgin Mills funeral centre, on February 23rd.
Again, many thanks to the kind and compassionate care of the staff and management at McKenzie Place in Newmarket over the past nine years.

Mrs Ford, was a surrogate mother to me at a time I truly needed one. I slept just down the hall from her for a few years and she always showed me kindness, generosity and love. She made me feel safe and she took me everywhere she and Wayne went. It was always a good, fun time.
We'd all laugh till our bellies hurt.

I love her and I will miss hearing about her through Jenny.
I send my deepest condolences to the Ford family.
May she rest in beautiful everlasting peace.
