In memory of

Oscar Ulyses Cuneo

January 16, 1942 -  February 4, 2020

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our father Oscar Cuneo on February 4th, 2020, in Toronto, Ontario. He passed peacefully while sleeping with his family by his side after a 4 year battle with cancer at the age of 78 years. Born in Pando, Canelones, Uruguay, Oscar witnessed incredible changes to Toronto. He emigrated from his beloved town in 1969 and initiated his new life in Canada becoming one of the first few original member’s of the Uruguay Toronto Club and was a proud lifetime member. Oscar lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing the drums, singing, painting his face with colors to celebrate carnival with his friends and participated in Caravana a few times. He loved to sing Tango, his favorites were Julio Sosa and Carlos Gardel. Oscar’s other passion was soccer, he would love to watch the big matches with the South American Soccer Cups, the European Soccer cups and the World Soccer Cup. He was a big fan of the Toronto FC Team, cheering for our promised local youth! Oscar was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Brotherhood was important to him and he never wanted to be a burden to anyone. He was always respectful, good manners and courtesy were his core values. Our loving father, and friend to all whose lives he touched, will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Family and Friends will be received at THE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL CENTRE- MISSISSAUGA 1535 South Gateway Road (at Dixie Road, two lights south of Eglinton) 905-602-1580 on Saturday, February 8th, 2020 for Visitation at 1:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in honour of Oscar would be appreciated by the family.
